Why GAF Is Our Default Recommendation

GAF is the gold standard for residential roof replacement in North America, and we have spent years earning the certifications that let us install the entire GAF system the way the manufacturer intends.

There are a lot of competent roofers in the Denver metro and on the Front Range. There are far fewer who have been re-trained, re-tested, and re-certified by GAF every single year. That difference is what shows up in your warranty paperwork — and on your roof ten years from now when a storm tests it.

What Master Elite Actually Requires

The Master Elite title is not a widely-used rubber stamp. To earn it and keep it, a roofer must demonstrate ongoing commitment to quality, customer service, and training. Specifically:

• A documented track record with state and local licensing authorities
• Adequate insurance for both the homeowner and the crew
• Annual training from GAF on every installation system the company offers
• Spot inspections of completed roofs by GAF technical experts
• Customer satisfaction reporting that GAF can audit

Every Roof Worx employee attends annual training on how to properly install GAF systems, which GAF experts then inspect. We do not let our certification lapse — because the second it does, we lose the ability to offer our customers the upgraded warranties below.

Only about 1% of Colorado roofers make the grade. The other 99% can still buy GAF shingles — they just cannot offer the warranties we can.

These warranty upgrades are not just paper changes. They require roofing system upgrades — proper underlayment, ice and water shield in the right locations, balanced intake and exhaust ventilation, starter strips at the eaves and rakes, ridge cap shingles, and code-correct flashing. The shingle is only one component of a system that has to be built correctly to perform over a 30-year horizon.

GAF Master Elite is the headline, but it is not the only certification we hold. Our other manufacturer credentials let us extend warranties on a wide range of systems beyond steep-slope asphalt:

• GAF Master for low-slope and flat residential roofs
• Mulehide single-ply
• Versico single-ply
• Firestone Metal Roofing
• Durolast PVC single-ply membrane

That range matters because a real Colorado home often has a mix — a steep-slope main roof with a flat porch roof, or an addition with a low-slope dormer. A contractor who only carries one certification has to compromise on at least one of those surfaces. We do not.

• Inspection and replacement of damaged decking before any new material goes down
• Synthetic underlayment, not 30-pound felt
• Ice and water shield at eaves, valleys, and around penetrations
• Balanced ventilation calculated to the home's square footage
• Manufacturer-matched starter, ridge, and hip caps — not site-cut three-tab
• Step and counter flashing on every chimney and wall transition

• Timberline HDZ — our default architectural shingle. Excellent value, clean look, well-suited to Front Range weather.
• Timberline Armorshield (Class 4) — hail-impact-resistant. Most insurance carriers offer a premium discount for Class 4, which can pay for the shingle upgrade over the life of the policy.
• Sienna Chateau — our premium designer line, for homes where curb appeal is part of the decision.

How To Verify A Master Elite Roofer

Do not take anyone's word for it (including ours). You can verify any roofer's certification status directly on GAF's contractor locator — search by ZIP code and look for the Master Elite badge on the listing. If a contractor is not listed there, they are not currently certified, no matter what their truck or website says.
